Feisty Susan Ryeland (Lesley Manville) is back once again with Atticus Pund (Tim McMullan) to solve another mystery. ‘Moonflower Murders’ picks up from where ‘Magpie Murders’ left off. If you’re wondering where to watch ‘Moonflower Murders’ online, this guide tells all.
If geoblocks get in your way, a VPN (virtual private network) can help you bypass them. You simply connect to a server in the same country as the platform you want to access and spoof your way in. However, only the best VPNs are capable of unblocking streaming services undetected, and if you need a quick answer, we suggest choosing ExpressVPN.

How to Watch Moonflower Murders Free Online With a VPN
If you want to watch ‘Moonflower Murders’ for free, there are a couple of ways to do it. The first is via a free trial with both Amazon Prime Video and the PBS Masterpiece Prime channel. That will allow you to watch it from the premiere date, but since the PBS Masterpiece trial only lasts for seven days, you won’t be able to watch the entire series within that time.
If you don’t mind waiting, the series will be available for free on BBC iPlayer (U.K.) and TVNZ+ (NZ), we just don’t have an exact date yet. When it is available, you can use a VPN to access both services if you’re not in the country. The steps below show you how. We’ve used BBC iPlayer as the example, but you can use similar steps with a New Zealand server for TVNZ+.
- Sign Up for a VPN
Subscribe to a VPN service, such as ExpressVPN. It comes with a 30-day money-back guarantee, so if you binge-watch the series once it’s concluded, it won’t cost you anything.
- Download and Install the VPN
Install the VPN on the device you want to stream on. Then, launch the VPN app and log in.
- Connect to a Server in the UK
Find and connect to a U.K. server by browsing through the server list and clicking on the relevant server.
- Create a Free BBC iPlayer Account
Head to the BBC iPlayer website and create a free account. You’ll need a valid email address for verification and a U.K. postcodes — a random one will do.
- Access BBC iPlayer and Watch Moonflower Murders for Free
Search for ‘Moonflower Murders’ (or ‘Magpie Murders’ if you want to watch that) and start streaming on BBC iPlayer.

Moonflower Murders Plot (No Spoilers)
While we won’t leak any spoilers, it’s good to know that ‘Moonflower Murders’ is a sequel to the acclaimed ‘Magpie Murders’ show. They’re both a mystery-within-a-mystery type of show based on the novels of the same name by Anthony Horowitz. Each ingenious adaptation merges Susan’s world with that of her client’s 1950’s fictional character, Atticus Pund (Timothy McMullan).
In ‘Magpie Murders,’ literary editor Susan Ryeland (Lesley Manville) finds herself in an amateur sleuth role. Susan’s prima donna author, Alan Conway, hands her the manuscript for his latest novel.
She later realizes the final chapter is missing, but learns that Alan has been found dead. A note points to his suicide, but something isn’t right. Susan needs to find the missing pages, which could hold the answer to the mystery behind Alan’s death.
In the next installment, ‘Moonflower Murders.’ Susan is in Crete, running a hotel with her fiance Andreas. She’s approached by a couple who own a British country hotel. Eight years ago, a murder took place there. Alan Conway visited the hotel and wrote a novel based on the events, naming it “Atticus Pund Takes the Case.”
The couple’s daughter, Cecily Treherne, read the book and realized the wrong man was jailed for the murder committed. Now the young woman is missing, and her parents are desperate to find her. They ask Susan to uncover the secret hidden in Alan’s novel and help find Cecily. Disturbed by the shadow of a murder and disappearance that technically has nothing to do with her, Susan feels compelled to solve the mystery.
