Patently Apple had created an archive back in 2010 titled “Cellular
MacBook.” Apple’s patents on this project began to dry up after
2017. Then out of the blue, a rumor surfaced on Digitimes that Apple was
planning a 5G MacBook. While the rumor missed the second half of 2020
time frame, it could very well be part of the magic behind the 2021 16″
MacBook Pro with a next-gen mini-LED display. A newly published patent
application from Microsoft looks like that have the same idea with an
interesting concept.
